The Miss Spain of history
SLIM PACK (1967)
One of more mises forgotten over time, has been this Andalusian who came with the title of Miss Western Andalucia and was chosen in Palma de Mallorca.
MARUJA GARCÍA (1962)
She had won the Miss Mallorca contest and this year, in Beirut, she was the first Spanish to win the Miss Europe title.
AMPARO MARTÍNEZ (1985)
This girl, by profession secretary, came to the contest as Miss Comunidad Valenciana and after her year of reign, not much was known about her, since her passage through the catwalks was fleeting and did not lavish on television. As her beauty did not stand out too much compared to her predecessor and those that would come later, her fame was ephemeral.
OLGA FERNÁNDEZ (1975)
Miss Galicia won the title in Tenerife, the same year that the history of Spain was going to change with the death of Franco. Until 2009 it was the only Galician Miss Spain. After his year of reign, he never heard from her again.
ALICIA BORRÁS (1965)
At 16, he had left his homeland, Menorca, to settle in Barcelona and devote himself to fashion. The title boosted his career, although a few years later, in 1973, he married a German singer of aristocratic family, Carlos Bernardo Tessmar and moved his residence to Milan.
AMPARO RODRIGO (1968)
It was a year with controversy, since the participation of Miss Gibraltar and its subsequent exclusion from the contest, motivated a political claim of the Rock. This fact played against Miss Valencia, Amparo Rodrigo, since he did not appear for any subsequent contest and set aside everything offered by his annual reign.
CRISTINA PÉREZ (1981)
The year of the attempted coup of Tejero, another Andalusian, this time Miss Costa del Sol, would reach the crown. The sudden fame did not make him abandon his idea since he was a child and finally he succeeded. Today Cristina Pérez Cotrel is a Flight Commander in the Air Europa company.
SONSOLES ARTIGAS (1987)
This young woman studied Business Studies when she was crowned in Tenerife. In just over a month, Miss Summer, Miss Elegance of Las Palmas, Miss Las Palmas, Miss Elegance in the contest of Miss Spain and Miss Spain is chosen in this order. With this background, it seemed logical that he could open a career as a model. And so it was at first, since during the year of his reign and the next, he did not lack work. He has collaborated in some television programs, work that he combined with his model work and event presenter. But his fame has not been comparable to that of most of his companions. As a family curiosity, there is a noble title of Marquesado de Soller that in fact (not by right after the 40-year period to rehabilitate it has expired) will belong to her for being the oldest of the two brothers.
CARMEN CERVERA (1961)
She was first miss in her homeland, Catalonia and came to this contest almost by chance, since at the time of preparing the event, Carmen was studying in London. But a bet with some friends made her return to Barcelona and run for the contest. He won and his family learned of the triumph through the newspapers. Later he traveled to London, where he introduced himself to Miss World, being in 3rd position. But Carmen's story had only just begun. In 1965 he married Lex Barker, one of the actors who played the character of Tarzan. He would remarry in 1975 with Spartaco Santoni, to divorce him in 1978. But Carmen, also known as Tita, would still go further in her life. In 1985 he married Baron Von Thyssen. From that moment, apart from becoming the owner of one of the greatest fortunes in Europe, she entered the art world and, together with her husband, continued to establish in Spain one of the best art galleries in the world.
VALENCIAN GLORY (1978)
The black town of Oro Negro was, in 1978, the place that saw another Canarian triumph coming with the title of Miss Lanzarote. Little else did we know about her after finishing her year of reign.
MARÍA JOSÉ ULLA (1964)
With only 18 years, it had been Miss Madrid. He was first studying Magisterium when he won the degree. A popular and well-known man, the journalist José Antonio Plaza, was the one who encouraged her to appear at the event. Some time later she would become her husband and saw how Maria José was a finalist in the Miss World contest.
PAQUITA TORRES (1966)
Sitges was the place where the beauty queen of 1966 was chosen. An Andalusian, Paquita Torres, who worked at the Torremolinos golf resort, was the lucky one. It came with the title of Miss Eastern Andalusia and it was our second Miss Europe, title that it achieved in 1967 in the French town of Nice. For this woman, the title of Miss was a real trampoline, since she accessed the world of the catwalk, where she became a quoted model. He also approached the world of cinema and intervened in three films. Later, he married the famous Real Madrid basketball player, Clifford Luyck and Paquita gradually retired from the catwalks, but left offspring in them, since his daughter Estefanía, who could also get any Miss title, It has made its way into the world of catwalk and photography models.
GUILLERMINA RUIZ (1977)
This Catalan woman who had won the title of Miss Balearic Islands, was chosen in the Alicante town of Campello. In 1978, he was in third position in the Miss Universe contest, enjoying some popularity for some years.
VERÓNICA HIDALGO (2005)
He was born on December 30, 1981 in Bagur, Girona. It measures 1.78 m. This student of totography, managed to convince the jury of a gala held in Marina d'Or and marked by controversy, since, from the beginning, the one that stood out as a favorite and certainly the most beautiful, was the representative of Lleida, Mireia Verdú. Although at first the girls wanted to take away the matter, the comments began the day after the election. Miss Girona was not among the favorites and it seems that she was not very popular with the rest of the participants, who accused her of very rare "weavings" and culminated in the performance of one of the jurors, curiously the popular Tertullian and polemicist of Marcianas Chronicles, Rocío Madrid, who ultimately overthrew the ilerdense and gave the victory to Miss Girona. Another blow to the contest that we hope will not serve to continue undermining its foundations.
PAQUITA ONDIVIELA (1980)
Miss Las Palmas was crowned in Benalmadena as the most beautiful woman in Spain in 1980. She tried to start a career in film and in 1983 she played, next to Lola Gaos and Paul Naschy, the horror film "Panic beats." In the cast it appeared with the name of Pat Ondiviela. Little else did we know about her. He currently works in film and television in Mexico.
GARBIÑE ABASOLO (1983)
The Basque country, which had not climbed the winning podium to any woman since 1960, saw Miss Euskadi win in 1983, who was already a model before competing. And in the fashion world she continued her professional career with various contracts that took her to Japan. In the Miss Universe pageant in 1984, he won the Miss Fotogenia award.
ANA ISABEL HERRERO (1982)
Miss Aragón, crowned in 1982 as the most beautiful woman in Spain, disappeared from public life as soon as she finished her reign, after marrying the famous Barcelona basketball player, Herminio San Epifanio "Epi".
MARI CARMEN MUÑOZ (1971)
Nobody remembers this Miss Western Andalusia anymore, since after her year of reign she retired absolutely from public life.
VANIA MILLÁN (2002)
The 2002 edition has been the most complicated and controversial of those disputed so far. The representative of Almeria, a law student, was 24 years old and measured 1.77. Physically it represents the typical Spanish woman: chestnut, with brown eyes, is the oldest in a large family and has taken care of her younger brothers almost all her life. She was a roommate of Miss Alicante. Actually, Gema García, an infiltrated journalist who was investigating for a well-known television producer the ins and outs of this event and who managed to buy her crown for four million pesetas. In addition to his preparation, Vania has been very useful for his 24 years, an unusual age for a miss. Both elements, age and preparation, gave him the maturity and prudence necessary to overcome all the difficulties and obstacles that he was going to encounter in his reign. The year of his reign was going to give him another opportunity to live new experiences. In this case, and with more controversy, she was appointed to participate in May 2002 in the Miss Universe contest. At the beginning, Miss Spain 2001, Lorena Van Heerde, should have attended, but it was never sufficiently clarified, either by decision of the organization, or by decision of Lorena and her parents, the truth is that in April it was communicated to Vania was to attend the appointment in San Juan, Puerto Rico, since Eva Sisó, the 1st Bridesmaid, also refused. He didn't even manage to be among the finalists.
RACHEL REVUELTA (1989)
Sevillana and daughter of an important traumatologist of the Hispanic city, Raquel Revuelta became the most beautiful in Spain in 1989. Although as a child she wanted to be a nurse, the truth is that after winning the Spanish beauty pageant, she changed her dreams of medicine to that of fashion and advertising, as did many of her predecessors on the throne. She worked as public relations for a film production company and as a television presenter with María Teresa Campos. She is currently a great businesswoman and runs the Double Erre modeling agency.
MARÍA JOSÉ BESORA (1998)
This Miss Murcia was chosen in a contest marked by controversy, since the rules of the contest prohibit the modification in the operating room of any part of the body. She had had a nose job, but this was not known until the contest had already been held. Before the threats of challenge, the thing was solved with the presentation of a certificate in which it was stated that the operation was motivated by a slight deviation of the nasal septum, which caused respiratory problems. The Murcia was immortalized by the sculptor Santiago de Santiago in a bust that is preserved in the headquarters of Miss Spain. Almost everyone agrees that she has been the most normal mother since in 1981 Cristina Pérez won.
ROSA PÉREZ (1963)
Miss Tenerife, did not opt for the entertainment world in any of its forms, but preferred to devote himself to his private life by marrying the basketball player José Luis Martínez.
ROCÍO MARTÍN (1972)
It also came with the title of Miss Western Andalusia, this Sevillian considered by many to be the most beautiful of how many mises had been chosen so far. He currently runs a prestigious modeling agency and for some years has been one of the most active collaborators of the television program "In the morning", together with Inés Ballester.
INES SAINZ (1997)
Miss Vizcaya, worked in different televisions after his year of reign and also in the occasional reality show. The public did not seem to like him very much, that he forgot about her. Today, those who pass these contests will not remember his face.
RAQUEL RODRÍGUEZ (1993/1994)
He reigned for two years, having not held the contest in 1994. This Cordoba, Miss Western Andalusia, was elected in Benidorm. After marrying the soccer player Gorka Arrinda, he left the world of entertainment in the background to devote himself to family life.
BARBARA KING (1970)
Not many people know that the famous Barbara Rey had been Miss Spain. The chosen one had been the gaditana Fina Román, but she renounced the title to marry. In this way, the award went to the hands of Miss Madrid, her first Bridesmaid, who, competing with her real name (María García), was none other than Barbara Rey. What happened to her is well known. Actress, singer and circus businesswoman after her wedding with the tamer Angel Cristo. He became a regular in the magazines of the heart, especially when his marriage ended up as the Rosary of the Aurora, with allegations of ill-treatment included and constant visits of both to the courts.
CERVANTES REMEDIES (1986)
One of the most famous after its coronation. This malagueña, Miss Eastern Andalusia, who was going to be a municipal police officer, took a complete turn to her career and her life and began to prepare herself to be a top mannequin. His effort and dedication eventually achieved it, since in 1998 he obtained the title of best European mannequin in the contest "The Best Model" held in Turkey, attended by models from forty countries. He enjoyed a very acceptable career as a model and also made his first steps on television, as an occasional presenter of party programs and some galas, as an actress in certain series. Like Juncal Rivero, its beauty did not diminish over the years, but quite the opposite.
MARÍA JESÚS RUIZ (2004)
He was born on February 25, 1982 in Andújar and measures 1.79. She has a diploma from the Faculty of Humanities and Educational Sciences of the University of Jaen and specializes in the French language. However, her life took another direction when she was elected Miss Spain 2004. From the beginning of the contest, her beauty and self-confidence called the attention of the jury and the public, as well as the media. It seems that, since always, the dream of this student was to win the title of the most beautiful in Spain, so sure of herself and her beauty must be. That is, at least, what follows from his first words after being crowned: "I am very happy. I have made my dream come true." And faith that got it. From then on, María Jesús became a public image that participated in dozens of galas, catwalks, television programs, fashion magazines and public events, as well as an incomprehensible participation in the garbage-program "The farm of celebrities". Hopefully it does not follow that path. It does not stick too much with the university degrees of which it boasts.
EVA PEDRAZA (1988)
This beautiful Cordoba, who planned to study Chemical Sciences, was chosen Miss Spain in the casino of the Manga del Mar Menor and later, her career in the world of beauty gave her the definitive boost when she was elected 1st Bridesmaid in the contest of Miss Universe in 1999. He stayed one step away from repeating the triumph of Amparo Muñoz. In the "Model of the World" contest held that same year, she also remained as 1st Lady of Honor. At the same time that he enjoyed his modeling career, television did not miss the opportunity to take advantage, in addition to his undoubted beauty, his natural sympathy and debuted as co-presenter in "Oh, what a heat!", False contest and gross excuse to show meat without compassion, it is especially breast covered. Luis Cantero presented, but those who put the meat on the grill were the Chin-Chin girls. From there, her presence on television was virtually uninterrupted, occasionally working as an actress in a series and presenting different party programs in the company of some of her successors on the throne of Miss, such as Esther Arroyo, Juncal Rivero and María José Suárez. As a result, it has become one of the best known Mises in history.
LUZ MARÍA POLEGRE (1976)
The island of Menorca was the place where this canary was chosen that came with the title of Miss Tenerife. After his reign, he gave nothing to talk about. At that time, private televisions had not yet arrived and the heart press did not pursue anyone who did not wish to trade with their private life.
CHELO MARTÍN (1974)
For the second time, the resignation of the winner of the contest (on this occasion it was Nelly Rodríguez who gave up being the beautiful official), diverted the title to her first Bridesmaid, so the Miss Atlantic, Chelo Martin, reigned during the year 1974. The event was held in Marbella and Chelo was ultimately one of the great forgotten.
SOFÍA MAZAGATOS (1991)
This beautiful Miss Madrid, was crowned as Miss Spain in La Coruña. In addition, he accompanied his title with that of Miss Elegance and, the following year, in the Miss Europe pageant held in Athens, he won the "Miss Beautiful Hair" award. From there, it did not cost him much to enter the world of catwalks, starring in numerous covers of fashion magazines, in addition to vast television spots. Her intended acting career was another song. It did not take off, despite repeated attempts. He even enrolled in the prestigious Actors Studio in New York, cradle of great Hollywood performers like Montgomory Clifft, Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, Al Pacino and so many others. In Spain, its passage through this elite academy, caused more jocular comments than anything else. If we add to this constant blundering at the time of expressing himself and his stormy relationship with a former president of Sevilla CF, who ended up in court, all this becomes one of the most famous mises, but at the same time the most reviled that has existed. On the other hand, it is not one of those that has gained in beauty over the years, since its collagen implants have ruined a beautiful face to make it one of the many that populate the television sets. A shame for this girl who aroused admiration in her beginnings.
LORENA VAN HEERDE (2001)
The first Miss Spain of the 21st century is this brunette with deep green eyes, Miss Alicante, who had not yet turned 18. The day before the final, "Miss Pretty Hair" had already been chosen. She measured 1.77 and was born in Amsterdam on May 21, 1983. She was a young and simple student who speaks three languages and likes to play sports, especially handball and rhythmic gymnastics. Considered, in a recent vote by Internet users, as one of the three most beautiful in the last decade (together with Lorena Bernal and Helen Lindes) and among the 10 most beautiful misses in history. Due to her minority, she was unable to participate in the Miss Universe pageant of the same year, so the Spanish representative was her first Bridesmaid, Eva Sisó, Miss Lleida. He has kept his private life apart from contests and other entertainment, so in the future it seems that he will only be remembered for his beauty and for being one of the most "Modal and Modal" as many as there have been.
NATALIA ZABALA (2007)
Miss Guipúzkoa, 23 years old and lacking two subjects to finish the Law degree, was clear that she wanted to run for the Miss Spain contest since she was a child. It was about following the family tradition. Her mother - who died two years earlier - was Miss Burgos and her sister was a candidate for Miss Gipúzkoa. It measures 1.77, has green eyes and brown hair. The gala, which again took place in Oropesa del Mar, was conducted by Silvia Jato, former Miss Lugo and who was elected Miss Nacional at the time.
ELISABETH REYES (2006)
In a contest that passed without pain or glory and with much less expectation than the previous ones, this 21-year-old from Malaga, 1.80 tall, brown hair, green eyes and a student of administrative management, was crowned in Oropesa del Mar.
ESTHER ARROYO (1990)
The one in charge to inaugurate the decade of the 90 in the contest of Miss Spain was this very nice gaditana, that arrived with the title of Miss Western Andalusia. She was chosen in Santander in one of the most hard-fought contests that are remembered. He moved to London at age 18 to study characterization and where he made his first contacts with the fashion world, the same year Miss Spain was crowned. In 1995 it passes to the world of television. He has presented galas and has collaborated in series such as "Journalists" or "A step forward". She has gained in beauty over the years and, in the end, has managed to become a more than acceptable comedy actress. His role in the aforementioned "A step forward" is undoubtedly the most fun of the series. In October 2008, she suffered a serious traffic accident while traveling to Jerez de la Frontera in the company of her husband and singer Ana Torroja, in addition to another friend who died in the accident. Esther suffered several fractures in her legs from which it took a long time to recover.
LOLA FORNER (1979)
Born in Benidorm, she came with the title of Miss Madrid to the contest held in Lloret de Mar. From the beginning, Lola had decided that Miss's crown would facilitate her beginnings in the artistic field. She wanted to be an actress and thanks to the contest she managed to shoot her first film: "The family well, thanks," by Pedro Masó. He continued working on the big screen and television. He never did too well in the fashion world, but he didn't seem too interested in it either. The agencies decided to take advantage of his face, of a serene beauty, to launch it as an advertising model. Since then, he has announced practically everything: perfumes, cars, credit cards, department stores, etc., etc. Completely jealous of her private life, she has never spoken and the pink press has respected her privacy. Many still consider it as one of the most beautiful mises there has been.
NOELIA AFONSO (1969)
It was chosen in its own land, Tenerife, and a year later, in Piraeus, it would become our third Miss Europe. Following his rise to the throne, offers rained in the world of cinema, fashion and song. It was perhaps one of the most popular misses of the 60s. Her beauty raised passions, to the point that the missing singer Nino Bravo dedicated one of her most popular songs, titled "Noelia". She currently runs and owns a hotel on the beach of the Americas.
MARÍA JOSÉ SUÁREZ (1996)
María José Suárez was the most beautiful woman of 1996, crowned in Salamanca and a native of Seville. His career as a model went to the background to discover in her a certain development as a presenter of galas. The programs produced by José Luis Moreno, were the launching pad for his uninterrupted television career, almost always alongside other misses such as Eva Pedraza, Juncal Rivero or Esther Arroyo. Therefore, his face, adorned with a beautiful smile, is so familiar to us. He has not starred in any scandal and is jealous guardian of his private life.
SANTANA EUGENY (1992)
After Amparo Muñoz and Eva Pedraza, this beautiful Canarian was our Miss who reached a higher degree in the Miss Universe pageant, since it was finalized from the contest in 1983 in Puerto Rico and the title of Miss Fotogenia was brought. He has also won in beauty over the years and has starred in a love scandal with wealthy characters that motivated his inevitable passage through tele-trash.
JUNCAL RIVERO (1984)
It was Miss Castilla-Leon when it was crowned the most beautiful in Spain in 1984. Extremely elegant, it did not surprise when in 1985, in the German town of Mainz, it was proclaimed Miss Europe. After having triumphed as a model, it could be said that with it the parade of mises began that later established their reals in the different television networks. We were able to see her in the programs produced by José Luis Moreno, "Among Friends" and "Party Night", continuing her television career to this day. Not only is it among the most beautiful mises there has been so far, but it even seems to have made a kind of pact with the devil, since over the years its beauty seems to be increasing.
EVA MARÍA GONZÁLEZ (2003)
This beautiful Sevillian, 1.76 tall, lived in Mairena del Alcor with her parents and her only sister, who encouraged her to participate in the Miss Sevilla contest, which she won. In the Miss Spain contest held in Marina d'Or, Miss Elegance and Miss Pretty Hair were also chosen. At the time of his speech, the brand new Miss Spain denounced the "lies" that have been spilled on this contest, which had been very touched since the coronation of its predecessor Vania Millán. We have been able to see Eva González collaborating in various television programs. But from these moments and although these issues always have to be taken with pins, it will surely be better known for its relationship with the Real Madrid goalkeeper, Iker Casillas. There is no doubt that this boy, in all his facets, seems touched by a magic wand.
LORENA BERNAL (1999)
He was born on May 12, 1981 in Tucumán, Argentina, but shortly before the end of the year he moved to San Sebastián. It measures 1.73 m. He studied COU in San Juan de Luz. He speaks English, French and a little German. He parked his pretended career in psychology when he saw that he was making his way into interpretation. This is the profile of this brunette beauty with green eyes, unanimously recognized as one of the most beautiful mises we have had and that was chosen in Jaen. It was tenth ranked in the Miss World pageant of 1999. It has been the face of large Spanish firms such as Oro Vivo and Pepe Jeans. He has paraded as a model in several cities in Spain and has participated in the presentation of the collection for the April fair of Vittorio & Luchino. He has also paraded for Tommy Hilfiger and for most of the best Spanish designers. But where it has really turned upside down has been in the interpretation. He studied Dramatic Art for two years, which led him to participate in the series "The Lord of Larrea" and collaborate in the film "Less is more". In addition, he has presented several programs, including a series of BBC documentaries in the Basque regional chain, as well as several galas and New Year's Eve specials in both ETB and Telecinco. In 2009 he married footballer Mikel Arteta.
ESTÍBALIZ PEREIRA (2009)
A 23-year-old from Coruña was proclaimed miss in the event held in Cancun, since no national television network was interested in the project. She is the first Coruña to win the title and the second Galician, after Olga Fernández, who won it in 1975. She had been working as a model since she was 16, when she won an El Corte Inglés contest. He studied at the Salesians, Company of Mary and Eirís International College.
AMPARO MUÑOZ (1973)
The biggest of all. His name went around the world and his achievements have not yet been surpassed. This Miss Costa del Sol, was 2nd Lady of Honor in the Miss Europe contest held that same year in Vienna and, in 1974, managed to be proclaimed Miss Universe in the contest held in the Philippines. The world of cinema quickly opened the doors. It came from the hand of producer Emilio Querejeta. His first film swept at the box office, "Tocata and escape of Lolita". After her, about 20 titles would come in some of which as "Mamá turns 100," by Carlos Saura, "Clara is the price", by Vicente Aranda, "The other bedroom", by Eloy de la Iglesia "and" La black moon ", by Imanol Uribe, showed that he was not only a pretty face and a spectacular body, but he could also walk firmly in the world of interpretation. At the height of his career he married singer Patxi Andión, from that he divorced quickly. From there, he began his downhill and also his particular ordeal. He did not know how to assimilate that he lived in a cloud and his excesses (to which the companies he frequented and the legion of arribistas who swarmed at were not alien around it) gradually removed her from the circulation. Her problems with drugs were really serious, to the point of being on the verge of death on more than one occasion. Sad ending for which she is still considered the most beautiful woman that has been presented to the co The beautiful broken toy died in Malaga on February 27, 2011, at age 56.
HELEN LINDES (2000)
He was born in Girona in 1982 and since the age of 13 he had been working as a model. With 17 years old, Miss Lanzarote was chosen and later Miss Las Palmas, a title with which she participated in the election of Miss Spain, which also conquered practically unanimously, since that year there was no other girl who would shadow her. They also surrendered to their beauty in the Miss Universe pageant of that same year, held in Cyprus, as Miss Photogenia and 2nd Bridesmaid was elected. It has become history as one of the most beautiful, but also most controversial, as it appeared semi-nude in Interviú magazine a few days before the contest, when it had not yet turned 18. Cos later, he started a career as a model, being the image of several advertising brands. He participated in campaigns for Don Cotton and many others, the catalogs for a certain lingerie brand being especially notable.
PATRICIA RODRÍGUEZ (2008)

These are the physical characteristics of this brown-haired and brown-eyed tinerfeña, who has spent most of her life in Charco del Pino, a small town on the island's sus. He studied 2nd year of Baccalaureate at the time of the election and dreamed of doing the Business career and being able to someday set up his own company. The gala was held again at the Marina d'Or complex and was conducted by host Emma Garcia.
MARÍA REYES (1995)
In 1995 the title fell to this woman from Soria who was studying Geology. From the first moment, she became one of the favorites of the contest, captivating the public with her beautiful black eyes. In the end, the jury also seemed to accept the opinion of the majority of the audience. The Miss Universe contest of the year 1996 held in Venezuela, gave him the award for "Best Regional Costume". The following year, he moved to Paris to work as a model in the French capital and since then he has dedicated himself without interruption to the world of the catwalk, making his first steps also on television, as a presenter of galas as in some work as an actress.
