This list is designed in memory of all the players who died giving everything on the court, QEPD.

TOP 46: Cătălin Hßldan - Romania

He died on October 5, 2000 of a heart attack during the Dinamo Bucharest match in the capital of Romania.


TOP 45: Pascual Bernat MartĂ­nez - Spain

He died on December 23, 1984, during the match between Catadau - Llosa de Ranes, playing at home. He died suddenly as he disputed the First Regional meeting of the Valencian Community between Catadau and Llosa.

TOP 44: Vicente VĂĄsquez - Argentina

He died on November 24, 1992 of a heart attack by rejecting a criminal shot with his chest defending the Garuhapé, in the honest city.


TOP 43: Guy Tchingoma - Congo / Gabon

He died on February 9, 2008, during a game of his team, FC 105 Libreville against US Mbiliandzami for contact with a rival player, in Libreville.


TOP 42: Joao Pedro - Brazil

He died on April 5, 1990 hours after suffering a heart attack during a game that was deputy Sport Recife against Students in Pernambuco.

TOP 41: José Roberto Rodås - Paraguay

He died on February 4, 2003, due to a cardiac arrest while arbitrating the friendly meeting between Club GuaranĂ­ - Olimpia de AsunciĂłn. The medical services could not do anything to save his life.


TOP 40: Ángel Avilés - Peru

He died on December 14, 1975 in Lima, in the match between Atlético Chalaco - Deportivo Junín, playing for the latter. He died of cardiac arrest during the game.


TOP 39: Endurance Idahor - Nigeria

He died on March 6, 2010, for unknown cause in the middle of his team, Al Merreikh against Al-Amal, in Omdurman, Sudan.

TOP 38: Phil O'Donnell - Scotland

He dies on December 29, 2007, playing for Motherwell, in front of Dundee United, in Wishaw. The player died after a substitution made during the match, collapsing in moments.


TOP 37: Jorge Chavez Boza - Peru

He died on November 12, 1936 in Lima, playing between Lima - Combined Alliance of the Peruvian League, playing for the latter since it belonged to Atlético Chalaco. On November 8 he suffered a femoral artery injury during a friendly match. Despite the amputation of his leg he died four days later.


TOP 36: Luis MarĂ­a CĂłfreces - Spain

He died on December 28, 1986, in the city of Castrillo de Villavega, playing for Bahillo. He died after a myocardial infarction while playing the Abia-Castrillo match against Bahillo, belonging to a tournament organized by the Provincial Sports Foundation of Palencia.

TOP 35: Goran Tunjic - Croatia

He died on May 6, 2010, because of a heart attack on the pitch, in a match he played in MK Mladost against Hrvatski Sokol, in Zagreb.


TOP 34: Oscar Quiteño - El Salvador

He died on December 13, 1964 in Orion, Costa Rica, playing for CD FAS in front of Orion FC, a ball hit his head, killing him hours later in a hotel.


TOP 33: Victor Brannstrom - Sweden

He died on September 5, 2012, due to a cardiac arrest after scoring a goal for his team, the PiteÄ IF.


TOP 32: HĂ©ctor Sanabria - Argentina

He died on August 27, 2013, due to a cardiac arrest in the meeting that his team, Deportivo Laferrere played against General Lamadrid, in Buenos Aires.

TOP 31: Daniel Gabriel - Nigeria

He died on November 1, 2010 when he played for the Virtus Lignano de Rigutino, in Torrita di Siena, Italy. The player passed out while the game was far from him, was quickly assisted, with resuscitation attempts that lasted half an hour, and transferred to a local hospital, where he entered without life, according to doctors.


TOP 30: David Longhurst - England

He died instantly on September 8, 1990 during the game he played for York City FC against Lincoln City, due to a heart attack, in York


TOP 29: Kevin Lasso - Spain

He died on January 9, 2011, as he suffered a cardiac arrest during the match he played at Alqueries CF, in the city of Alquerías del Niño Perdido.


TOP 28: Ricardo Ferreiro - Spain

He died on September 13, 1993 because of a heart attack in the locker room, after the launch of penalties to break the game played by his team, the Gomesende, in the city of Gomera.


TOP 27: Víctor Hugo Ávalos - Paraguay

He died on April 2, 2009, due to a cardiorespiratory arrest after celebrating his goal, with which his team, Villa Florida, won 1-0 against Salesianito, in AsunciĂłn. Already in Medical Emergencies, where he was referred as an emergency, his death was verified.

TOP 26: John Thomson - Scotland

He died in Glasgow on September 5, 1931, playing the match between Celtic FC - Rangers FC, playing for the first. On September 5, during a meeting between Celtic FC and Rangers FC at Ibrox Stadium, at the start of the second half Thomson and a Rangers player, Sam English, went for the ball at the same time and Thomson's head collided with English's knee, fracturing his skull. Thomson was taken off the field on a stretcher, most people thought he was only badly beaten, but a few who observed his injuries suspected the worst. One of the Rangers players who studied medicine mentioned that when he saw him he knew he was not likely to live. The match continued and ended with a 0-0. Thomson died at Victoria Hospital.


TOP 25: Sergei Perkhun - Ukraine

He died on August 28, 2001, after ten days in a coma due to cerebral edema, because of a strong header during the CSKA Moscow match against FC Anzhi Makhachkala, in Makhachkala, Russia.


TOP 24: Albert Van Coile - Belgium

He died on April 4, 1927, in the encounter between Circle of Bruges - CO Roubaix-Tourcoing, in Bruges, playing in the first. He crashed into the goalkeeper of the rival team, which caused his death after he was replaced.


TOP 23: Oscar VĂ­ctor Trossero - Argentina

He died on October 12, 1983, after the match between Rosario Central - River Plate, having played at home. He suffers an aneurysm in the locker room, after the game.


TOP 22: Renato Curi - Italy

He died on October 30, 1977, in Perugia, when the match between Perugia Calcio - Juventus was played, playing for the first. He suffers a heart attack during a match between his team against Juventus.

TOP 21: Yair Clavijo - Peru

He died on July 21, 2013, after suffering a cardio-respiratory arrest during the Sporting Cristal match, in Urcos.


TOP 20: Bobsam Elejiko - Nigeria

He died on November 13, 2011, during a Merksem SC match, in Merksem, Belgium due to a traumatic rupture of the Aorta artery.


TOP 19: Samuel Okwaraji - Nigeria

He died on August 12, 1989, in the Nigeria - Angola match in Lagos. He dies instantly during the game, due to a heart attack.


TOP 18: Alen Pamić - Croatia

He died on June 22, 2013 when he suffered a cardiac arrest while fighting a friendly for his team, the NK Istra 1961, in Maruzni. He had a history of heart problems, he had already collapsed in the middle of the game at least three opportunities, the last one in February, against Lokomotiva. Despite his problems, the doctors allowed him to continue his career.


TOP 17: Javier de la Rosa - Panama

He died on May 7, 2011, killed after leaving the stadium after winning a game with his team in which he contributed a goal to his team Chorrillo FC, in Panama City.

TOP 16: Pedro Berruezo - Spain

He died on January 7, 1973 in Pontevedra, in the match between Pontevedra CF - Sevilla FC, playing for the latter. It falls on the lawn victim of cardiac arrest. The doctors couldn't do anything to save his life. He had had a heart attack a few weeks before.


TOP 15: Charles Ocheaga Esheku - Nigeria

He died on July 16, 2001 because of a collapse during the Bengal Mumbai match of the Indian League in Mumbai.


TOP 14: PavĂŁo - Portugal

He died on November 13, 1973 in Porto, when the match between FC Porto - VitĂłria Futebol Clube was being played, playing for the first. He dies after collapsing in a match on the 13th day of the league in the 13th minute of the match on a 13th day.


TOP 13: Jacobo Urso - Argentina

He died on August 6, 1922, in the meeting of San Lorenzo - Students of Buenos Aires, in the Argentine capital, playing for the first. Idol of the club and member of the Argentine National Team, died after colliding with 2 players in search of a ball, in a match against Estudiantes de Buenos Aires. He broke a rib and refused to leave his team with one less player (there were no changes). He continued playing until the end of the match despite the pain, causing his broken rib to pierce a kidney. He faints at the end of the encounter, being operated twice in the following days, passing away on August 6.


TOP 12: José Antonio Gallardo - Spain

He died on January 8, 1988, 24 days after the match between Celta de Vigo - CD MĂĄlaga, playing for the latter in Vigo. He received a blow to the head during the match, from which he initially recovered satisfactorily, but seventeen days after the coup he fell into a coma. A week later he died.

TOP 11: Danny Josué Ortiz Maldonado - Guatemala

He died on February 29, 2004, during the Guatemalan classic between CSD Municipal - CSD Comunicaciones, in Guatemala City. Crash from front to front opposite.


TOP 10: Serginho - Brazil

He died on October 27, 2004, collapsing in the vicinity of the area without the ball in play. He suffers a cardiorespiratory arrest during the match between Sao Caetano - Sao Paulo, playing for the first one in SĂŁo Paulo.


TOP 9: David Arellano - Chile

He died in Valladolid, Spain on May 3, 1927, in the meeting between Real Valladolid - Colo-Colo, playing for the latter. He died because of a peritonitis derived from an accidental blow caused by a rival in the middle of the match, so he had to be rushed to a clinic where he finally died.


TOP 8: Hrvoje Ćustić - Croatia

He died on April 3, 2008, 5 days after the skull was fractured during an encounter when he hit his head with a concrete wall near the band line, playing local for NK Zadar in front of HNK Cibalia, in Zadar .


TOP 7: Marcio Dos Santos - Brazil

He died on October 28, 2002, after suffering a cardiac arrest at the hotel where he was staying, shortly after playing the game. Shortly before he had felt bad, but the doctor only prescribed headache pills. Curiously in his last game he scored the winning goal for his last team (Deportivo Wanka) against his former team (Alianza Lima), in Huancayo, Peru

TOP 6: Francisco Javier Herrezuelo "Guti" - Spain

He died on November 23, 2008 of Sudden Death, during the home game between Olímpico Valverdeña and Arcos, in Valverde del Camino.


TOP 5: Morosini leg - Italy

He died on April 14, 2012, in the hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest in the match he played for Livorno against Pescara, in the city of the same name.


TOP 4: Pelé - Brazil

Not to be confused with Pelé, star player of the 60s. He died on July 8, 2012, due to a cardiac arrest before entering the hospital while playing a match for São Bernardo FC against Portuguesa Santista, in São Bernardo do Countryside.


TOP 3: Marc-Vivien Foé - Cameroon

He died on June 26, 2003, against the match played by Cameroon and Colombia, in Lyon, France. It collapsed suddenly in the center of the pitch. His death was due to a heart attack as a result of the swelling of his left ventricle. His death along with the Hungarian Miklós Fehér, and the Spanish Antonio Puerta, were the most shocking deaths in the world.


TOP 2: Miklós Fehér - Hungary

His death was on January 25, 2004, with 24 years and a lifetime ahead; in the VitĂłria de GuimarĂŁes - SL Benfica match, playing for the latter, in GuimarĂŁes, Portugal. He receives a yellow card, and he receives it with a smile, but ironically. Going to his position, he begins to walk slowly, to bow down and falls unconscious to the ground. He died due to pulmonary thromboembolism. His tragic death went around the world.

TOP 1: Antonio Puerta - Spain

He died on August 28, 2007, 3 days after the match between Sevilla FC - Getafe CF, playing for the first, falls fainted, the player was treated on the pitch, was replaced by not being able to play the match and Once in the locker room, he lost again and regained consciousness. He died three days later because of a post-toxic encephalopathy accompanied by a multiorgan failure, in Seville, his hometown. He was one of the best players at the time, also leaves this world to his girlfriend waiting for his first child.
