True Wireless Xiaomi Mi AirDots: poor performance
Aprox. 24€ - see price -
After the Redmi AirDots and Mi AirDots Pro, our quest for good true wireless at low prices continues with the Mi AirDots test from Xiaomi. This model, very close to the Redmi AirDots, is distinguished by its touch controls.
Our review
The essential to remember
Difficult not to get lost in the references of the Chinese giant Xiaomi. To clarify a bit, the Mi AirDots is the true wireless entry-level model of the Mi line, so behind the Mi AirDots Pro intras that we have already tested. Xiaomi's Redmi line also has its entry-level benchmark, the goods named Redmi AirDots.
Recommended item: Xiaomi Redmi AirDots: true wireless intras at 20 €
The Mi AirDots have many points in common with the Redmi AirDots: the look, the charging case, the sensations of comfort, the wireless connection (between intras and with the source device), the possibilities of control ... and even the sound performance . The only notable difference between the two models is the presence of a sensitive touch control panel on each earpiece.

We could have hoped for more control possibilities with these tactile controls, but that is not the case. It even degrades the user experience even more. Indeed, the list of available commands is always as ridiculous (pause / play, call management and triggering of the smartphone voice assistant, it is impossible to navigate between tracks and even less to manage the volume), responsiveness is mediocre and the double press ( assigned to the activation of the voice assistant) sometimes causes a bug when resuming playback. One of the headphones takes a while to re-pair, which is far from practical. To avoid this, we will therefore be satisfied with the very basic pause / play. To choose a lesser evil, the physical buttons of the Redmi AirDots are a little less hassle to use. All other points detailed in the Redmi AirDots test are valid here. Do not hesitate to take a tour on this side if you want to know all the surprises that this model has in store - and they are largely bad.
Conclusion
If it is not a good comfort and a few small details in the anecdotal end, it is very difficult to retain something truly positive from the Mi AirDots. The sound performance is as disappointing as that of the Redmi AirDots and the user experience even less pleasant. Better to go your way.

Surprisingly good for the price
Like I assume many others have, I looked at this product as a cheaper alternative to the Apple AirPods. To be entirely honest, I was expecting mediocre sound quality and battery life. I turned out to be delightfully surprised by how much I like these earphones.
The sound quality is very clear, perhaps not "audiophile" tier, but let's be honest: no earphones are audiophile quality at $ 30. I've heard people complain about latency when watching videos. I personally haven't experienced that. Whenever I watch a YouTube video, I don't notice any latency, though I suppose that I could be not as sensitive to that as other people. The battery life is also pretty decent (not mind-blowing, but solid). The Bluetooth is easy to set up as per the included instruction booklet; pairing them with my iPhone 6s was a cinch.
They are comfortable to wear. I'm usually not a fan of the squishy rubber found in a lot of earphones — I usually wear over-the-ear headphones or hard plastic ones — but for some reason, I think these earphones are comfortable. Differently sized rubber pieces are included, in case you prefer a larger or smaller size.
The only gripe I have with this product is that no charging cable was included. I mean, Micro USB cords are ubiquitous enough, so it's not egregious.
Two chargers died by the second day
Received the first unit. Sound was great, pairing worked really well, was totally happy. Left it charging overnight, all good. The next day, I go to recharge the headphones, but the light on the charger doesn't come on. Tried different cables, different usb plugs, nothing seems to enable the charger. Eventually the headphones die because they can't be recharged. So I send it in for a replacement.
Replacement received. Paired the device, works great as before, charged overnight, everything going smoothly. Go to recharge the headphones the next day, same problem as the last unit! Charger doesn't work anymore!
Gave up at that point and sent them back for a refund. Really wished charging hadn't died since everything else was great about them.
Great quality for the price.
If you looking for a cheap headphones but with quality sound these are it. Everyone complaining the left didn't work, but if you read the directions it clearly states sync the left pair by itself. What makes these headphones great is that each pair can be used independently. Would recommend to anyone who wants true wireless for half the cost.
Excellent
* Third revision * getting the headphones to pair to each other was a bit of a nuisance and the left bud seems to have some connection issues as far as the charging case is concerned. Once paired successfully, they function great as headphones, and the sound cancelling is great. The fit is also very nice. So aside from the pairing / charging issues I've come across in my short time I find them to be pretty good. * update * I've used the buds for the last day and have been able to discern where the problems lie. The connection issue is solved pretty simply by turning the left bud off and on again, and when I looked closer at the charging case I noticed that the prongs in the left compartment were considerable shorter than the right ones and one of them was even half stuck under the plastic! This rendered the left bud unchargeable because it couldn't complete the connection. * new * used a thumbtack to gently pry the stuck prong out and all has been well for the last few days of continued use. I will say that, as someone with smaller ears, the fit, though quite snug, became uncomfortable after prolonged usage (more than an hour and a half). 4 stars because of the initial pairing / charging issues
I wont say it the best but i really like my purchase
At first i was kinda worry about the sound but i change the tip to the bigger one and try it again and danm that change everything this doesnt sound like a 30 dolar wireless earphones also is kinda hard to pair it watch a video on yputbe how to do it that what i did
Great sound, connectivity, and quality
Why does anyone buy airpods ?? These things are incredible. They pair up automatically when removed from the case to the last connected device. They are comfortable and sound great. They fit perfectly into the case with that satisfying magnetic snap and can be fully charged three times in the case without using a cable since it includes a built in battery. All this for that price ?? Plus, they're compatible with Google Assistant. And they're way more attractive than those white airpods that dangle around your earlobe. Why would you buy anything else?
Fantastic Sound Quality
I previously purchased a pair of Bluedio T Elf 2 for about the same price as the Airdots. The T Elf 2 seemed to have a better feel to them and seemingly better build quality but there is no comparison on the sound quality. The Airdots have great bass and very good mids. I'm glad I didn't settle for the T Elf and tried these out instead.
