The Lima Festival, also known as the "Latin American Film Encounter of Lima", is a film festival held annually in Lima, Peru. The first celebration was held in 1997. The festival is presented the first half of August of each year. It is the main cinematographic event of Peru. In a few years it has managed to be among the most important festivals in Latin America. Along with the films in competition, large parallel samples with films from all over the world are exhibited, as well as tribute cycles to various characters in the film industry.

The awards are annual and voted by the members of the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation, which is an open association and gives the right to vote to anyone who pays for their registration. The name of the prize comes from the phrase "blowing a raspberry", which refers to the sound made with the mouth (imitating a flatulence) to denote a particularly ridiculous or poor quality artistic act.
